Radish is very famous in Japan and it is called 'kaiware'. It is believed that the Japanese have been eating 'kaiware' since the Heian era (794-1185), when it was considered a luxury ingredient because each radish was hand-planted.
Radish Green Cress has a very similar taste to the radish root.
